edit - post should read my car HAS started whistling

I noticed it on the way home from SM4.

At about 56/57 mph, in 3rd / 4th or 5th gear.

I'm thinking it could be transmission whine or something

I've never noticed it before (but I did get a lot of this in my CTR).

Any ideas?

The car drives fine, it has done 8200 miles, 2 track days and a day with Don (soon to be two days with Don on Wednesday )

PRM does this too (as do cars with the airbox lid off - tends to happen ~3000-4000rpm)

hmmm, I'm not sure. The Mugen CAI hums at idle (a bit like air box lid off does but not as loud)

If it was transmission whine, I presume I would hear it all the time not just at a certain speed?

Mine makes some sort of whine only at 55-60mph.

I have been afraid to post about it in case someone says my gearbox is about to self destruct and I should visit the dealer ( a minefield I do my best to avoid).
