Induction noise mods may be the best option for you IMO.

That way you can easily control it.

Take the airbox lid off to sample it - safe to do and takes 30s

Dont be fooled about exhausts.
Anything legal sounds quiet and barely over stock levels, and I include the mega-money Mugen in that too.
For appreciable exhaust noise you have to live with some drone.
Its just the way it is. And its bloody annoying.

I just acquired an HKS and I have to say there's no drone on the motorway at cruising speeds.

A neighbour came over this morning and didn't realise I'd had it fitted so tick over is not offensive.

However I overtook a mate on the motorway on Friday and he nearly jumped out of his skin. Pulled off the motorway and at the next set of lights noticed a text from him that just read "Fook that's loud!". (Although that was in vtec with my PRM at full volume too)

Doesn't attract too many head turns round town either. Very pleased.

Does the K&N FIPK sound much louder than removing the airbox lid?

This is not 100% true mate, the J's Racing Single 60 RS is the perfect exhaust for an S2000. It honestly has no drone, is quiet at low revs and sound sabsolutely mental (and loud) when on VTEC. Being Ti it only weighed a few kilos aswell.

I have heard many others (invidia, HKS, Buddy Club etc..) and they all fit in with what you describe. The J's 60 RS does not.

If anyone doesnt believe this i would happily take them out in it if local!!

I'm not sure spoon ticks the box of "most bang for my buck", to be honest with you!

Good advice so far – go with something second hand. £450 for exhaust and k&n like jimmyb sounds good.

Has anyone bought one of the £300 exhausts off ebay? Or one of the cheap £60 intakes?

Some things on ebay appear worthwhile, like a $12 lip that someone bought on one of the wanted threads, but other ebay things get awful reviews. Any value to be had there?

Induction kit.

Regarding exhaust remember its only a 4 pot, and most exhausts make this 4 pot sound shit, bar a few.

K&N FIPK and the full Garage R with De-Cat will bring on an orgasm if you are so inclined. My mate with an Aston V8 said he preferred the sound of my car at full chat over the Aston, with the added benefit that my car doesn't break every five miles.

Give Rob a call at get the full jobbie. K&N FIPK and Garage R exhaust and de-cat.

There is none better.
