you might want to think about what I did - timber cladding (or upvc if looks don't matter)

Fair play for building it yourself
If it had been me I would have opted for at least a double garage, but by the sounds of it money/needs dictated the size for you

UPDATE:
Bit of an update, I have made a small concerete ramp to get into the garage as there was a small drop.
I also spent the weekend painting!
Finally, I ordered some graphics for the inside to brighten it up a bit, obviously ill be putting these up when everything else is complete...

Although some may run down the slope and in, im not sure yet.
