Default Is my OSF caliper seized?

I've had an inkling that one of my brakes is binding as I come to a stop much earlier than I used to when the car was rolling. I felt the heat coming off each wheel after a 10 mile journey and the OSF was considerably hotter than the others. There was also a funny pattern on the disks themselves.

Anyway, took the calipers off the sliders. One of the sliders was quite hard to move, anyway got that moving. I pushed the piston out about 15mm and it was 50% covered in crud. Cleaned that off and then pushed the piston back in with a G-clamp. Wasn't very hard to push in. Greased all the shims and put back. It's now fine but I've only done 1 mile since doing it.

Question is, is it seized or have I caught it in time?

If it was seized I dont think that you could have pushed the piston back in, it may have been stuck but you must have caught it in time. I would run it for a while(7 days?) and then clean and lubricate again.

My money is def on its seized. id say rust will have probably got inside through the seal and fecked it.

Those symptons are tell tale signs off a seized caliper, as ive had them.

If i were you just get a caliper from the breakers around

If its gone to far, then a refurb kit will do shit all.

Dont quote me on this, but it seems to me its fecked. And if you fix it IMO it will happen again down the line.

I think I may give it a chance to see if it happens again, hopefully not. There was deffo no rust on the piston when it was out 15mm from the caliper. The seal was fine and was still sitting in the correct lip. I spoke to my mechanic who said that it wasn't seized if I was able to depress the piston back in using a G-clamp. He said I wouldn't have been able to do that if it was truly seized.

I suppose only time will tell!
