Some insurers charge less for the GT model.

If you have a non GT and add a hard-top this counts as a modification & costs more to insure.

How pathetic! Will they charge me even more if I modify it to add a tracker?!

Mine is a GT from a Manchester main dealer but there is no mention of GT on the registration document, only on the sales invoice.

I'm led to believe the hard tops are fitted by a sub contractor once they're in the UK.

I have a hardtop. It's a saloon on the log book! Well there you go.

Go to the Surrey meet and someone can look at it and tell you if you're not sure of the bits where the HT spikes go

OK - can't say I noticed any spikes, but behind the passenger's left shoulder there is a electrical connection with a rubber cover that says "Hardtop" on it... so I'm guessing that confirms it.

So if that's there, I guess I can assume that all the fitting kit's there, and that should I ever want a hard top, it's just plug and play (or plug and pray)

hmm, sorry....mine had the lecy connection but i had to buy the fitting kit recently (to a 57 plate). you know that nipple next to each seat you mentioned earlier in the thread?....if you look at the top & behind that panel you'll see the fitting kit bracket 'hole' that the hardtop 'spikes' fit into. hope that helps.

Hmmm - OK not entirely sure what I'm looking for - anyone got a photo I can compare against? Sorry to be a lame-o!
