Smile MY02 Alarm problem

Hi All,

Searched and read the FAQ. FAQ good and helped me get the code for why the alarm is going off but not too many people with the same problem in search.

Basically I am arming the car (with hard top on) and after 15 minutes or so, the alarm goes off. Done it 4 times earlier, went out and read the flash code and it says 6 flashes which means "ignition turned on!?"

Well its not as the keys were on the coffee table

Anyone have any ideas!??! Is it goosed?

Car is locked by key at the moment.

How's your car battery? The alarm going off can sometimes be attributed to an old battery.

Good point. Looking at it this morning it doesnt "look" old. Car is very low mileage for the year (23k).

Its just randomly started last night for no reason at all. I wonder if its with having the lights, heaters, etc on all the time now its winter it is draining the battery.

If your on the original battery then it's getting on a bit. I wouldn't like to say for sure that it is the battery, I don't want you to spend £40 on a new one for it not to cure the problem. Maybe somewhere like Quikfit could check it for you for free?

Old battery + colder weather = problems with the alarm.

Do get it checked first though.

Ill get the battery checked somewhere locally this weekend.

Let us know how you get on, shop around for a good price on the battery too.

You can take them to most garages where they can do a drop test on the battery. This will give you an indication of how much beef is left in the battery

Thanks Lovegroova

£40+ vat from Honda on part number above or £60 from Halfords. Honda will test mine before replacing as well. Will pop there on the way home.

Guy advised if the charge is low, the alarm will think the Battery has been removed and set its self off.
