Default Name this noise/problem?

Everyone

1st off, on saturday i changed over all my brake pads. in doing this i noticed my passengers rear wheel hub nut was loose! So tightened up.

Since that day, when i drive there is a horrible squeaking/rubbing sound coming from that rear passenger wheel.

The noise only starts after 10mins of driving and then get really bad. After another 10 mins eases up abit but still noticable.

Also when i turn left, no sound.

I thought it could be the wheel bearing? but there is no movement if i jack car up and rock wheel. Also no sound if i jack car up and manually turn wheel.

Before i go anywere anyone have any clues?

Does it rise and fall with speed?

Did you grease the back of the pads?

Did you re-use the OEM shims?

IS the noise continuous or intermittent?

My guess would be either a sticking rear caliper or a pad that isn't moving smoothly in the sliders - the squeaking may be heat generated by the pad rubbing and it stops because the pad wears down at the contact point.

Yes i do grease the pads and also use the oem shims.

The noise is continuous however pitch changes with speed.

All calipers are fine. However when i went to change the pads one of my calipers was seized. Its now unseized but the disc has taken some rust (ideally needs changing) but is working now. So could it be this? However that is on a different wheel (rear drivers) and i am sure i can hear the sound from the rear passenger.

Did you knock the rust lip off the discs? Are they badly scored and pitted? Sound can carry ...... which disc / wheel feels hotter ( don't touch them, if they're hot you will be able to feel the heat by putting your hand near them_

We sanded the disc to make it abit better but is pritty bad and ideally needs a change. I will have to feel it tonight.

You've either got a sticking piston in your caliper or you've got pads sticking in the carrier - either way it's prudent to get new discs and clean your caliper & carrier up

Have you located the lug on the pad properly in line with the 'crosshairs' on the caliper?
