Default Nearly on Carpers List ! :-(

Got up this morning, thought I would go for a quick burn up the road. Been in the beater all week so getting in the S feels great after that. Anyway driving along motorway for a bit then decided to turn back. Got to 60 and the car starts to shudder , that weird I think , feels very unsafe slowing down makes it stop. I pull over in lay by take a look at tyres they seem ok, wheels look ok. Jump back in car and pull away up to 60 again and it seems worse, I think to myself i will keep going on motorway straight to the Honda dealer in Colchester or pull off at my house a mile away . Thank god I did pull off, I slowed down to 30 and its the same I pull up outside my house. I get the wheel brace out to tighten the wheels , the driver side needs doing about half a turn on all, I think maybe that it. I go the the nearside rear and its virtually hanging off . One bolt has already gone , so lost that one , 3 off the others are finger tight and one turn away from completely coming off , the only bolt that was on good was the wheel locking nut. So my wheel had been held on by one bolt. If I had gone round a corner sharpish it would have just snapped off and someone would have had a wheel through their windscreen and I would be in a bit of trouble too . I changed the wheels myself 2 weeks ago and they were all put on very tight so I have no idea how they can come loose so easy. Anyway my 18's are going back on this week but I will be checking my nuts a lot more in future.

Not driving it at moment as I only have 4 bolts holding the nearside rear on so it looks like i will be in the beater this weekend.

After this episode I met up with tricky who impressed me with the HKS exhuast so this may be an addition this week. Cheers tricky

You reckon some Essex Chavs have been after your wheels?

Always check your nuts regularly

Spose its possible but they were my 16's OEM ones so who would want them !!

I never leave it anywhere so I cant see how someone could have loosened them

You did check them AFTER you had tightened them up didn't you?

Glad this wasn't the disaster it could have been.
Invest in a torque wrench. Wheels should be tightened to 80 lb/ft, and always tighten the nuts gradually up to this in a criss-cross pattern as shown in the manual, never simply going from one nut to the next around the wheel.

What do you mean check them? I put them on , did them up tight and that was that. I never checked them after I did them up

You should check them again, after you've driven around a bit, in case they come loose

:scary: moment when you realised the wheels were about to fall off.

They do say you should drive the wheels of these cars but not literally
