Default need to find the speed pulse

hi all

just won a lovely vdo sat nav system on ebay, and in the instructions it say i need to find a speed pulse (electronic signal saying how fast the car is going) so that the system can find out where it is etc.

does anyone know where this cable is or how to find it???

cheers all

chris

Errrr.

Satnav uses GPS to work out how fast you are going and what your position is.

yeah but it needs the speed pulse to knwo how fast you are going, so when it loses gps it can predict where you will be when it regains it, same as it needs reverse connection to know you are going backwards, strange but needed

If it loses GPS it should pick it up again once it starts getting a decent signal.

I'd get a sextant!

On a similar note is GPs speed more accurate then indicated speed. Just my other half's Ford says that it is doing 78 when GPS reads 70? The difference always about the same from say 50 mph indicated upwards.
