Apart from better torque, won't the extra power be offset by the extra weight?

I'm happy with the current engine personally.....I've come from the M3 3.2 straight-six and don't find the 2ltre lacking in any department

Why is it that every time a bigger engine is mentioned someone always claims that it would be offset by a heavier weight?

The boxster is a 3.2 but the weight of that car is exactly the same as ours. It even has heavier quality interior parts on it. I think a bigger engine for more horsepower would be great.

I also admit that sometimes I do miss torque. the power is there if you shift down but while driving along if I suddenly need to increase that speed I do have to shift down and at the time miss having lots of torque. At other times when I keep the engine bubbling and am out for a fun drive I wouldn't change the engine for anything less than a Ferrari!

this is why the Boxster S is probably a better allround performer than an S2000 (flame suit on) the Honda is great when you are in the mood and 'on it'.........when you are in a more relaxed state of mind then perhaps some more torque would be beneficial

thankfully now whenever I get to drive the S2000 I am always in the mood and as such is the perfect tonic for me

J'agree.

I always tell people who say the S2 lacks power, that it is not about that at all. This engine is a 2ltr, 4 cylinder, 9000 rpm screamer that doesn't go 'pop' driving it everyday. That is what makes this car the b@ll@cks. If you want torque buy a 911 or TVR.

The S2 is the biz.

I might be wrong here. but i think the 2.2l engine would used the same engine block as the 2 litre. Its just a matter of boring out the block and fitting slightly larger pistons ect ect.

so i dont think that the engine would be that heavier.

Man just hope its in the cabrio. tried the 2l engine. was not impressed. Ok for a 2L engine, but honda must take their finger out and put competitive engines in both the nsx and the s2k.

But lets wait and see.
