Default New 2.2 ltr S2000 engine for 2004 MY

Evidence on the US forums of a new 2.2 ltr engine on their 04 S2000 .

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...threadid=123834

Has anybody heard any noises about it coming to the UK?

I would guess it would come to UK also, since it has already been mentioned for debut in Japan later this year..I can't believe they would exclude GB cars since they will be doing RHD for the Japan market.

I'm kind of in two minds on this. Half of me says Woo-hoo! New engine and interior (gotta be a clock in there somewhere now )! (especially as my 2.0l 01MY car has a new home). The other half says they are likely to have dropped the rev limit from the magic 9k rpm, that was a key factor in me buying the car... shame they didn't really bite the bullet, make it a 2.2l but further reduce the reciprocating mass and keep/increase rpm to get us to 270/280 bhp....

the S2000's that compete in the endurance racing here in Japan..manage 10,000rpm by just additional balancing and some different valve springs...they can't significantly change the engine, only use whats off the shelf available to the general public. For example a J's racing balanced/exchanged F20C engine is a few grand..plus a bit more work and you probably have something more poky than this 2200 thingy.

Interestingly it says a new 2.2 ltr engine, not revised. So hopefully not just longer crank throw to get the new capacity.

This is not going to make me cancel my order for my 03 MY car and I would miss the summer too, besides I need something to look forward to in 2006 when I replace it .

Hmmm....gonna wait for more definite proof.
These rumours have been around before and no doubt, will come round again.

Check the US thread San as the evidence seems to be (relatively) concrete. It is due in North America before October as an MY04.

It's crystalised my thoughts for Canada as I was contemplating buying "newer" after our SM3 weekend. Makes sense for me to buy an MY01 with less depreciation costs and pick up an MY04 next spring. I could be the first UK board member with one.

Maybe DB.
I suppose part of me doesn't want to believe it as I've just got my car, and I know the depreciation will get worse with a newer model coming out.

don't worry, the new car should come with a new price tag above the current model that hopefully protects current owners..
