Well, I have finally got my car back with the 055 clutch assembly and Honda UK 2002 suspension / steering alignment / geometry mods.

So far so good - it was 6:00pm when I picked the car up but as far as I can tell the work has been done without damaging the car (not that I'm paranoid you understand )

The drive home was about 30, pretty congested, miles. However some initial impressions...............well after 10 days in a civic the S2000 feels very fast, noisy and 'raw' .

The transmission is much quieter (we are talking relatively here!!) I am pretty sure it is not making any noises it shouldnt (except for the ringing from 8000-9000rpm, which was there before and remains). The shift is even better than it was before - no 'notchyness' at all it just snicks from gear to gear - it really is excellent - so fast - so precise Love it

Alignment - more tricky to say - after so long in the Civic the mind plays games. However (and this could just be me conning myself its better cos I have just spent

Glad to hear you're mobile again and happy with the work.

Were you having feeling notchiness when changing gear before you had the clutch changed? Was that the reason for the change, or because of the vibration. If so, how bad was it and which gears were worst? My gut feeling is that I have a clutch release problem, but the dealer assures me that the clutch is adjusted right.

Ian, your experience with and feelings about the 055 clutch change are identical to mine. It's now as it should be. A hell of an improvement!

I'll be interested to see the feedback on your alignment changes as I'm debating whether to take mine to Brindley Honda in Cannock for the same thing.

Great news Ian! I hope you have an uneventful washing session.

I'm very interested in this smoother shift action, did you (& Pete) have problems with notchiness all the time or just when the car was cold?

All the time, especially between 2nd and 3rd, and the problem was particularly evident when cold. Querying if others had the problem was the first post I put up after discovering the S2ki site.... see

Car cleaned and Zymol'd and pretty much everything is tickety-boo (1 small graze on 1 rim from alignment equipment)

The gear change on my car was great before the clutch change - slight notchiness, esp. when cold and esp 1-2 and 2-3. This has now gone, and I cannot imagine a better change is possible!

However, to answer Rob's question, no, it wasnt the notchiness that caused me to get the work done (I was happy to live with that - as I said, I thought changing gear was excellent). The reason I got the work done was excessive transmission noise / vibration on decelleration - esp. noticable from 400-300rpm in 2nd.

It is the most glorious day in Sussex, and I have been for a drive - I am convinced the alignment has made a noticable difference. The car seems a lot more stable, and the back end does not feel as if it is about to let go at any moment.

Now the 1 peice of info that i would like, but dont have, is what the alignment was like on my car before they started faffing about for 8 days! This has been lost, so it is possible my car had poor alignment prior to being reconfigured - I just dont know. So I cant hand on heart say, 'yes, go do it, it will make an appreciable difference'. I believe it has on my car - but I dont know how well, compared to a well configured 00/01 car, my car was behaving before the work. Make sense? I hope so
