Default new engine advice

Im in need of some info, i have a 1999 jap inport ap1 s2000 with 67000 miles on the clock and rescently has blown up so im opting for a new engine. iv sourced a 2006 fully rebuilt with new oem internals, oil pump, conrods ect it comes as a block with no extra's , i am aware that my99 had cable throttle and 9k rev limiter does the 2006 engine still have 9k rev limiter ! and it will have had the drive by wire (electronic throttle) but if i use my inlet manifold/throttle body ect will this work fine ! also will my ecu be ok 2 use ! and if i were to source a 2006 ecu would this be benifiscial ! and am i right in saying the 2006 engine has better lubrication and stronger oil pump!
thanks in advance for all ur help

As I understand it...

There are no changes in the engine ( apart from something that uses less oil ).

Just swap over the interchangable bits.

As it happens Gas...you're right

Make sure the 06 engine is a good one...can't think why such a new one has been re-built

Think about an MY04-05 engine...it 'might' prove less hassle.

It's only a gasket or something piss trivial that stops the oil seeping.

If you can get an 06 engine - get it.
If you can't - just top it up with oil as per the earlier engines.

Don't go DBW - it complicates things.

IIWU mate, i'd get a non rebuilt 04 engine.

No pissing about with DBW and rebuilt engine need to be done properly, it seem from what I've read the F20C is a bit dodgy when it comes to rebuilds.

I think an o4 engine would probably run with your Jap spec car/ecu fine, i have had a spoon/J's ECU (jap ecu's realy) in a UK car, later ECU's run a bit leaner.

There are different cam sensros on the new 06 engines, I rememebr seeing it so you' have to swap them over from your MY99.

The engine is forged as standard.

Like the other peeps have said, I would be looking for a low mile non rebuild.

Over the years they changed the oil squirters (did you do yours?) and the oil pump was swapped (diff part number) in about 2004.

Just swap the new block in, and then put all the MY99 sensors on, using the MY99 ECU.

It's what I did and it was fine.
