Hence me going for the DBA discs rather than EBC. I know Balance Motorsport sing EBC's praises, but i've not heard much good stuff about them from anyone else other than them being cheap.

they're heated treated, designed to withstand much higher temperatures than normal discs (and come with heat paint on so you can see how hot they're getting) and have an unusual core between the sides of the disc which supposedly improves cooling over straight vanes and also prevents the disc warping.

Mine will be going on over the weekend and will get their first proper work out at rockingham (which will be a good test)

I still take the view that mine had taken quite a lot of track abuse over a year or so before they had problems, so maybe it's a case of you can't expect the disks to last as long with trackdays (and with Ferodos).

But I now have Ferodos all round (and EBC turbo grooves all round). We'll see at Rockingham: if I crack any of them and yours are fine, then I'll be the first to write off EBC and hail DBA.

That sounds like a challenge

You have to use your brakes hard though Dembo. No sand bagging and Craig like braking

Clark motorsport are the UK importer. I've had the first set of disc they've imported into the UK since they became the importer last year. I happen to know they've got another set on the shelf because when they imported mine they got another set in as well.

telephone number is 01339 885666 or mail them on info@clarkmotorsport.net

DBA website is http://www.dba.com.au/2006/default.asp

i've got the 4000 series discs with wiper slots (not drilled)

delivered price is just under

File under 'suspicions confirmed.'

This isn't a new story and there is a reason why the OEM disks are so damned expensive.

I managed to crack my OEM's Nick. But I do believe the OEM's are a good disk. Biker1 had them analysed and apparently have a good metallurgical profile. However this is received wisdom so I can't make an informed opinion myself.

Has anyone seen any independent tests of all these? The problem is *everybody* says their disks are designed to take extremes of heat, and *everybody* says their disks are designed with revolutionary cooling fins, so who do you believe?

The people that spend billions on R & D?

Oh I forgot, they only produce compromises, don't they?

Talk about fools and money; these threads crack me up
