new head unit
Can anyone help?
I have bought the following components to upgrade my OEM head unit.
HU: Sony MEX-BT3900U
Stalk adaptor: PC99-X61
Patch lead: PC99-SON
I bought these as I thought they would allow an easy way to keep the dash controls. So either I have connected them up wrongly or one of the adapters is duff or I’m a total &@#%.
I can get the HU to work fine as a stand-alone unit but cannot get the any of the dash controls to operate though I do feel a ‘click’ from what I guess is a solenoid in the songle when I use the dash mute functions.
The instructions with these 3 bits of kit are pretty minimal but I have matched male/female connections.
Can anyone confirm that I should be plugging the flying jack lead from the PC99-X61 into the rear jack socket of the HU? I ask this there is an ATT lead (bare but with taped end) dangling from the HU plug of the patch lead!

Phil, I had a similar problem with a patch lead. There should be some instructions (mine were on a small slip of paper) with that lead...follow these for ~ 10 minutes (it takes a fair few attempts) and it should work
IIRC, you need the HU out so you can disconnect/connect leads. I left the HU out 'til I had sorted it.

There's a photo in this guide that may be of some assistance Phil: http://www.jack-frost.co.uk/honda_s2000_stereo.html
Though being electrical, I've no real clue - and paid Halfords to fit the same combination (Sony/Audioleads).
FWIW, they got it wrong twice, had to phone three different stores for an answer and what was due to be a 30 minute job took 2 hours!
Having got it right though, it does work perfectly with the dash controls.
