i very much doubt they would weld it to the car...

they probably mount it on the hangers before deciding the exact weld points to give it a "custom" fit, rather than an average fit that the usual manufacturers will give you...

Hi All,

Finally got around to taking some photos and, before anyone asks why I waited 'til the hottest day in the year to put the hard top back on, I'm transporting it to storage!

Looks nice - looks like it is probably very loud, especially around 3 - 3.5k

Makes flat-pack assembly of the S much much easier.

nah, on the bottom pic. E has been written on the underside of the chassis?

Looks good though - very tidy! were those the standard tips or are they an additional choice? I saw on their website they had 40 odd tip options.

Tips ended up being 'cut-off' 4 inch rounds. The back-boxes are at an angle (pointing towards the outside of the car), so we used a diagonal cut on the end pipe to get the exit parallel with the wheels.

My first choice was 4" ovals that had a rounded / rolled over edge. The guys at the garage were concerned that this lip would cause a really annoying cavitation noise at high revs. Therefore, we went for a 'Japanese edge' which didn't look very good using ovals - hence the rounds.

If anyone else knows what E means, post it. My next best guess is 'Excitement'

The sound is evolving all the time. Exceptional in high rev range, yet very acceptable when on motorway with roof up - girlfriend hasn't started frowning at me yet

BTW when's the next Hertford meet? I'll bring it along for 'show & tell'

There is A BBQ meet on Monday but the regular Herts meet is on Thursday evening at the usual location in Welwyn Garden City.
