Default Is this a new trend?

I have seen a number of cars recently with no front number plates......mostly Elises

Is this a new trend?...wondering how strictly enforced the law is regards front 'plates?

I had no front plate on my elise and was never pulled for it and i live opposite a police station.

People think they look better (which i agree with - its a curvy car and the number plate isnt curvy) and it has the added advantage of not being prone to forward facing cameras (if, god forbid, you accidentally wander over the speed limit!) You always need to carry the plate in the boot with some velcro in case you do get stopped so you can say "i took it off for a show" or something like that. They wont believe you but they wont stop you from driving it home then - just give you a warning what a silly boy you are.

Has anyone taken the front plate off their "S"?

A guy in manchester got nicked and fined for having a flag of St George stuck on his plate covering the EU sign. So if you drive with mis-placed, small, altered plates or indeed no plate at all you run the risk of being stopped at the very least.

New trend is to have them on hinges. Allows more air into the rad when moving as it folds back.

Not on the S though! Its in a good place to start with.

Just noticed it does obstruct the rad a tiny bit more than I thought

They would certainly come down hard on you if you entered Central London as the charge zone cameras as all front facing.

Not worth the risk IMO.
