New tyres have a release agent on them when brand new which can make them slide about on wet roads until it's scrubbed off.

Best bet after getting new rears is to do a couple of hard launches off the lights to scrub them in

I remember that, just coming out of Kwik Fit with brand new Bridgestone rears on, flashed out by some guy and I forgot about the release agent. I recall doing some rater embarrassing wiggling.

Takes a little while to scrub them in.

All new tyres feel a bit 'floaty' at first.

Roads are very greasy ATM, which possibly exacerbates it.

Great fun for sliding about a bit.

I had similar when I put the last set of B/stones on, took a few mile to bed in, first time I've had this, I even got the alignment checked, wondering if manufacturers are doing something diffferent at the factory and not telling us.

First thing I do after tyre fitting is check the pressures - or stand there whilst they do them

sorry to hijack this one.... but I've got floaty new fronts and its quite annoying!

How long roughly would they take to bed in because its pretty annoying right now.

Had new tyres all round S001 on the rear (felt good instantly, my RE050a was shot any how)..... got RE002 on the fronts and after over 500mile they still don't feel great! Seem to wander around.

I do have cracked front caster bushes which are the next job (got replacement arms already), so I guess that wont help... but they where cracked with the old tyres on and I had no issues with floaty front end feel. also dropped tyre pressures on the front RE002 to 30PSI which seems to help a little. not really caned it anywhere though due to weather / temps.

any input would be appreciated lads

Try raising the pressures a tad. I have to with the front AD08s on the NSX. The sidewalls seem 'soft' compared to what one might expect.

Your rears (BS S-series) are quite a 'boring' car tyre and they may just not talk to one another; just a different compound, etc.

I should have thought 500 miles should have 'broken' them but some tyres just take a long time.

dropping to 30psi has somewhat improved them. they where originally at 34, then 32, now 30... 30 seems best so far. seem less wandery (is that a word lol)

The rears with the S001 are locked down really well and feel great, its these fronts that aren't great.

No idea about 'boring' tyres...I went with recommendation on here of S001 rear/ RE002 fronts as a good upgrade from RE050. AFAIK the S001 and RE002 are the latest and best summer tyre BS do in our sizes.

TBH im happy with the rears, and maybe it just is the sensitivity to pressure on the fronts (my RE050 were at 32psi). 30psi does seem to be better though.

Yeah, I just don't like mixing different tyre specs as they always seem to demonstrate an inconsistency somewhere.

Looks like you've done all you can to play with the pressures.
