I tackle this 2 ways.

I carry my track gloves in the car - if it's very cold, I put the gloves on for a bit.

I've alos found using the "top down" mode on the heater for a minute or two works well as the centre vents blow warm air over it.

Worth noting I've changed to a JDM Titanium one - not sure how much difference this made in temperature either way, but it improved the shift quality

Blowing warm air over your knob... hmmmm... now there's a good idea.

A good point from the colonies.
Do you have problems with your knob getting too hot to handle?

I have found Sanjay's knob a litlle unpleasant the last few mornings, I try to grip it hard, but find I can't bring myself to and end up gently caressing it instead.
I think this weekend will see me tucking Sanjay's knob back where it came from and getting my leathery old one out for the winter.

.....What, we're talking about gearsticks? oh.

I imagine the expression on your neighbour's face when he sees you with your lips stuck from frost to the knob

I think the problem with AlexC is that his nob is bigger and therefore has a greater surfacr area than others (like mine ).

The key is not what you have, but how you handle it and I find that a few tissues or an old rag certainly give a warmer feeling...

Yes, it's true - I stayed with Guy the night before the Heyford Academy day, and showed him my larger nob then
