My car is in for a 27000 service and new front brake pads. now the garage is up the road from me. i asked my brother to take me down the road in his car to pick up something. now imagine my shock to see my car coming the other way! do garages take the car out for a test drive? there were two young mechanics in it. my brother spun the car round and followed it. after a couple of miles they turned back to the garage. i stopped at the honda garage as i wanted to get something out of the boot. the driver seat had a plastic sheet on it. the passenger seat had nothing on and had oil on the seat! i pointed it out to the women and have not said anything about seeing it out on the road with two mechanics in it. i will see what they say at 4pm when i pick the car up. i might be giving them a bollocking and demanding a red leather seat.

 

Test driver is part of every service. Oil on the seat should not be...

 

That should clean off by the time you see it!

That happened to a Sierra of my friend's father many years ago.

Strangely the oil got UNDER the plastic cover!

a new seat (velour!) was installed subsequently.

 

the oil was on the passenger seat which was not covered with anything. only noticed as it was red leather does oil come off easily? is it likely to ruin the leather?

 

If it's cleaned off promptly, it should be ok.

You might demand a proper leather clean and treatment (basically beeswax) to make sure.

If you've red leather, do not get one seat replaced (colour match!).
