Default O2 issues

Now ive got over cocid and been cleared to go back to work, i felt id take the s2k out clear the cobwebs..
i have a EML on and code is p0172 rich in bank 1.
The o2 i have is a denso item from rock auto in the states
as had the stock o2 fall apart inside the manifold last year..
If i unplug the o2 car runs spot on..

So the oem from honda are bloody expensive and not sure if will fix the issue..

Any suggestions to a possible cure as dont have abother sensor i can try.

I'd start by looking at the fuel trims to work out what's going on - in addition to Noodels' comment above it could be the O2 sensor, blocked injector or restricted cat/exhaust -> Fuel trim diagnostics

Im decatted, run k and n intake thats it mod wise.
its an 02 MY.
with sensor unplugged cars perfect.
The sensor itself is a rock auto denso item..
Always throws error code p0172 (system rich bank 1) when light comes on, but it doesnt come on every time but the symtoms are still their, the miss and smell of fuel..

Since it’s defatted is the O2 sensor spaces out from the exhaust, most need to have one to fool the readings?

Yup the secondary is spaced.. never had an issue with it..
i only get p0172 code. theirs black soot out exhaust so running rich. Its a primary o2 fault. But running a denso replacement from rock auto, havent got another one to try.

So it's a new sensor?

You sure it's the right part? I believe later cars run wideband primary but it feels to me like without that feedback it's fine so the feedback is rubbish

Thats was my line of thinking, however without another o2 to use be expensive experiment..
the ecu side so the female plug looks fine, wires not cut or broke.
can we test the plug to make sure ecu is doing what it should? Then can 100 per cent say sensor

Go to lings honda parts, put your registration in and get the OEM part number for the sensor. Then search that part number and you will find O2 sensors that match the OEM part number. You might find you have actually got the wrong denso replacement sensor
