Default OE air filter replacement

I bought an air filter from Honda (part no. 17220-PCX-003) to change the one in my MY06 car as per the service schedule as it looks fairly grubby.

Attempting to change it, the new one looks identical to the old one in my car except for the moulded pin at 'pointy' end of the cone that locates in the rubber bush in the bottom of the airbox. My original one has a cross-shaped pin that locates in a cross-shaped hole in the rubber. The new one has a round pin, and trying to push a round pin into a cross-shaped hole didn't want to happen smoothly! Also, the airbox lid didn't drop nicely into position as it was resting on the new filter where it didn't sit down properly. It'd probably press down with a bit of force, but it didn't feel right.

Speaking to the local dealer after the parts department had shut yielded not a lot, other than a comment that they should all be the same irrespective of MY. I'll try again tomorrow...

Has anyone else come across the same filter problem? Is there a different filter part number for different MYs?

Spoke to the parts department this morning. There is a revised filter and part number for the later MY cars, same price.

good to know, although the lack of responces to your question may well be because so many of the regulars on here change to different induction kits or would otherwise let the dealer do the change.

I noticed this difference when i put in my K&N filter, thought it was just because it was a K&N so just cut the cross up until it fit.

I plan on keeping the car for a while, and when I was quoted
