Default OEM Oil cooler or emissions device

Hi All

I'm in the process of running a new oil cooler in behind the front bumper and am thinking of removing the OEM Oil donut from the car. My question to everyone is; Is it there to help heat up the car quicker for emissions purposes only or is there any other benefit of having it on the car?

The reason i ask is i am running the HKS supercharger kit and the clearance is fairly tight, i would prefer to swap this donut out for a sandwich plate i can run sensors too.

Any information would be much appreciated

Thanks

It is both a oil cooler and heater.

Personally I've kept mine and ran an thermostatic oil cooler setup with rad and a fitment where the oil filter would sit.
