Default Oil Filter Relocation

Finally, oil changes will now be piece of cake and not require supercharger bits to be taken off!

^^ that is the issue with upside down oil filter placement. On cars that come that way, like our Tacoma, they have a dish that the filter sits in with a small outlet that you can connect a hose to or stick jar under to catch all the oil tha comes out. I would suspect you could fab up something like that for this application. I suppose a drain could be installed in the line lower than the filter, but you would need to be very careful in selecting it to ensure no interference with oil flow. I assume you have, but be very certain that the lines you chose for this are sized appropriately for that same reason.

its all AN10 lines, the fitting are full AN10 and not smaller diameter in the middle like some are.
My oil pressure at idle 80 degrees oil temp was 42-45psi, crusing was around 90 and full throttle was around 105psi. It dropped about 3psi when hitting vtec but went straight back up again after. I am charged if that makes any difference.

I can put cloth down to catch dribble but for ease of changing it was a no brainer really.

Is there not a risk of the oil filter draining empty when not in use which will obviously starve your engine of oil at start up?

More modern oil filters and housings are designed to be ‘upside down’ but I don’t think the s2000 one is.

John install looks tidy but i would be very suspect regarding those oil pressures. The pumps bypass opens at 85psi so you should in theory never get anywhere near 105. I reckon its over reading by about 20 so that that would put you at about 20psi for idle pressure which is about the norm from what ive read (thats what i have)

Good to see another HKS car going strong after what happened to stevens old on the other day

Most oil filters have the anti drain back rubber flap so it should be alright. Whether that will stop all the oil from leaking out overtime remains to be seen but i would imagine he will be fine.

I took the oil filter off to inspect yesterday and oil was still in there, i was able to take it off with only dribbling a little bit(a microfibre was enough to soak it up ~25ml).

Yes the Honda has a drain back valve which stops it from draining back, after being sat since Thursday night it was still full of oil.

Mark, the sensor is on the take sandwich plate on the block, does this normally read high?
