If it's what you asked for Bonce, I'd take it back and get it done. As mentioned I'd ask for some for top ups in way of compensation.

Spoon Japan advise you DO NOT do an engine flush, these can cause more damage than good !!

I can't really see much of a problem in mixing oil type's a lot of people are known to do this as a norm.

If all the same rating then all should offer the same sort of protection and not cause any adverse effects !!

If they used their own oil, they should have given you a "free oil top up kit" containing 1lt of oil, plastic gloves, dipstick wipes and wet wipes all in a sealed plastic bag.

What? No garage has EVER given me anything like that. Is that normal for Honda?

I only use Honda's own fully sythetic and I hardly use any oil. Must have done at least 2000 miles since I last put in 100 ml. and it don't need any at the moment

I would leave it in, dont pay for the oil as you didnt' request it, money saved from that will cover the cost of a top up surely ? then save the oil you have until next service for oil only is due, if you did decide to change it now you will have to get time to book car in, a new oil filter and collecting car again which does all add up to one hell of a pain in the neck and the wait for booking it in will be a week as they wont do it straight away.

This is what I got from Trident in Weybridge and the used Shell Helix.

I've NEVER seen "Honda's own" oil - i don't beleive there is such a thing. If anyone would care to prove me wrong, more than happy to see (I'm referring to fully synth engine oil specifically)

I can't see what would be wrong in putting in a similar rated oil synthetic or not. Magnatec is a good quality oil after all Maybe someone tecchie can come on here and correct that, but at the end of the day (don't you hate that phrase?) this engine is designed to do 6 figures and it is not a Honda F1 engine designed to do 6 minutes sometimes I think we forget that...

It's a mystery to me why some cars guzzle oil and others just don't - my MY99 has virtually none added between oil changes, regardless of the semi or fully synthetic nature. Go figure
