I bought a litre of Magnatec 10w 40 when I bought the car and didn't use any for the first 5000 miles or so, with one oil change in that time. Since about 1000 miles ago it started using it and I've now almost used up the litre I bought.

I may buy some Redline for the next change.

My old ATR like a drink of oil as well, maybe it's the quick Honda's that use it more

Just had my first service at Barnsley Honda and they used Castrol Formula SLX 0W-30, whatever that is.

They also ordered parts to fix the headlamp washers as I forgot to tell them that I had taken the fuse out!

if you are changing the oil every 4.5k miles then magnatec will be fine. there is a lot of sales pitch in oil literature, but a standard, non turbo'd engine, even with a 9k redline, will be fine on cheap semi synth oil as long as it is topped up regularly.

my engine has shell fully synthetic in it, but only because my services are currently free and that is what the dealer puts in.
