Default Oils/Fluids

I should probably know this but was just wondering what the difference is between clutch fluid and brake fluid?

Have searched and people mention using the same stuff for both (DOT4)

I ask because my clutch fluid is dirty and wanted to get it sorted - I also have a bit of a stiff clutch so the plan is to

Change gearbox oil
Change Clutch fluid
Get the clutch fork greased

It is a weekend car and never tracked etc so standard stuff is just fine, at the moment I am thinking about using;

Gearbox - Either REDLINE Synthetic Manual Transmission Lubricant 75W-80 GL4 or the OEM Manual Transmission stuff from Honda
Clutch Fluid - ?? some standard DOT4 brake fluid ?? HELP

Which products do most use for this?

whatever you are currently using for brake fluid, use that as clutch fluid.

on mine im using Castrol Super Response Dot4 for both my clutch and brake.

But does it matter if they are different?

i.e. if I don't know what my brake fluid is should I just replace both at once?

Assuming you purchase a 1ltr bottle, you will use about 0.7ltrs of it to bleed your brakes, so the rest you could use on clutch.

Thanks, looks like I will be just doing the clutch as the brake fluid has just been done on the service...

Going onto Opie Oils against the S2000 it recommends amongst other the Motul and Silkoline DOT4 fluids..

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/product-finder.a...ndation#results

Looking at these here and elsewhere when I search online it always brings back Bike shops and even on the front of the Silkoline it mentions motorbikes but not cars?!

Is this the right one to use in the S?

Just go to your local motorfactor and get some DOT4. It'll be easily more than enough!

As for gearbox, go and get the Honda stuff. It is actually rather good.

And don't forget to do your diff
