Default One for the Suspension Gurus..

Looking at the shocks that are available for the S2000, there seems to be a divide in which axle pair should have the high spring setting...

Gaz 375/300
MeisterR 530 / 460
BC Racing 530 / 460

are harder on the front, where as
KW 300/350
Nitron 300 / 350
Bilstein 345 / 285

Can any body shed some light on this phenonmenon!!!?

Presumably those numbers are Front/Rear?

Link not working.

Received wisdom as follows:

MY00-01 = 218F/291R
MY02-03 = 240/230
MY04-07 = 256/207
MY08-UP = 274/225

But this thread casts some doubt https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=818884

MY00-01 = 218F/291R
MY02-03 = 246/309
MY04-07 = 262/278
MY08-UP = 280/294

Ohlins and Tein Monoflex are also harder on the front then rear (10kg / 8 kg)

General trend I can see is all the posh ones are all the same with the front rate being higher!

I don't know a lot about it tbh. I think my BuddyClubs are 10/10.

The exception being Mugen (Showa) NZ which have a higher rear rate (IIRC F:7kg/mm, R:11kg/mm).

NItron shocks have a higher rear spring rate to mirror the OEM set up.

I realised last week that I still have all of the dyno test data for the Nitron shocks as against OEM on my PC (but I promised not to share them ).

Craig,

The "received wisdom" above is that for an MY02, the rears are slightly softer than the fronts, but I recall you mentioned they were 250lbs/inch all round in the Nitrons are go thread.

Is the "new value" of 246/309 closer to the truth please?

Simon,

I understood our 08> cars have CR suspension:

2008-2009 CR | 384 343 | 392 362

Which is why they're "the best"

But that looks a helluva front spring rate, though...

hellaspring?

I don't think the MY08 cars have CR suspension, but Type-S suspension - there's hints at a slightly softer setup here http://www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/FirstD...-Type-S/229147/

and here http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/23/officia...a-s2000-type-s/

Nick, any thoughts on that paper I linked to - does it makes any sense?

Is the MY99's waywardness principally down to that stiff anti-rollbar?
