NEVER had my laser detector do that

but if you point a mobile phone and send a business card by infra red the laser should activate.

I reacted to a laser on the M40 - cops on a bridge, me slammed down from 95 to 70. They didnt come after me. However, I've heard they wont bother for less than a ton on that stretch

In theory IR should set off the laser detector, but saying that, the detector is probably limited to a particular waveband of the light spectrum and may not react, otherwise it wpould just go off in daylight. The light opposite were off an S2K, which give off a distinctive blue tint wich may be close to the laser light frequency. As for the sun, I've noticed the alarm soiund when the car in front is reflecting the suns light from a corner of the boot or something similar therefore focusing the light, which may cause the detector to think its a laser.

As for reacting to a laser cmaera, you lucky b@stard!

Very true, but it depends if you spot him coming off a bend, the laser can only be used if you are travelling straight towards the van, and if there is other traffic, its likely to take a few seconds for you to get in scope or for him to re-aim??

IMO laser detection is a waste of time. I ditched the laser add-on for my RA ages ago... (ahh might sell it on eBay )

It will be interesting to see what happens with the new legisaltion, especially since the new RoadAngel 2 has an integrated laser detection unit without the ability to disable it!

Hey guys...thanks for the thoughts. Made interesting reading.

Confirms what i guess I thought, though I didn't know about the (potential) change in legislation....not that I think it will influence my decision to order the B2.

I sorta presumed that although it takes fractions of a second to 'paint' a vehicle; that they'd have to keep it painted for a certain amount of time to actually determine the speed accurately i.e. calculate the distance travelled over time...or even need time to take a number of readings over a short period to iron out any 'oddities' (e.g. insect/bird flying in front of the beam? lol.) and provide adequate readings.

But as a number have commented....we're talking seconds at most!

So...

Anyone recommend a good, authorised, supplier of the B2 - or are they all price fixed now (everywhere I've looked it seems to be @
