Ouch!
All joking aside, the sideways moment came because the road was very greasy (oil and rubber build up on the surface of the road, add to that the melting tar from the hot weather we've had recently), probably more greasy than they usually are after a dry period, and she used more throttle than was appropriate to the conditions.
The S2000 on standard rubber doesn't have a lot of flex until the tyre is warmed up, so any sudden force on the tyre will not be absorbed by the usual rubber flex you see on warmer/softer tyres.
The trick is to be as smooth as possible, hardly touching the throttle coming off a roundabout until the front and rear wheels are all pointing in the same direction - this applies to an extent in all weathers but the sudden-downpour-greasy-road situation is probably the worst.
Is this the first RWD car you/she have driven? If so, get a bit of training, for less than

Purley Roundabout?
It was the roundabout on the A33 relief road by Rose Kiln Lane (near Currys, PCWorld, Hellfrauds etc).
Can't see how it happened really, although the surface was greasy...

Purley roundabout's the one between Tilehurst and Pangbourne at the bottom of the hill in Purley
I twated the rear right wheel. Honda said the same thing new tyre and alloy. Then they did the alignement. it was out very slightly and they couldn't get it to spec. had to replace the upper and lower camber arms! then had another alignement. still couldn't get it back in spec. so they said it was a damaged subframe! cost loads to fix and i had to pay out of my own pocket as i was on 3.5 years no claims! the car never really felt the same and i got gearbox problems a year later. i am not sure if they are related?
good luck. go the insurance root as just getting the alignement is

Don't push her too hard, she'll have scared herself and will need a bit of time to get her head around it.
Once she's calmed down a bit, I'd suggest talking through what happened - what did she do, what could she have done different etc., and then a driver training day - both a handling course (1st Lotus, Academy Day etc.) and a Road Driving course (DriveTrain, HPC etc.)

Blimey. I can see why you're surprised - loads of room on that one.

We've decided to go the insurance route as it's
