Owner!!
I finally bought the "S" yesterday and had the best drive to work this morning taking the "Long" route, (about 40 miles longer!)
And now i'm just sitting here twiddling my thumbs and waiting for my lunch break!
I LOVE THIS CAR!!!
A few questions in possible (i know its early!)
How long do I have to use the mineral oil, i heard it was for the first 9000 miles to properly break the car in?
What is the best oil to use, and where is the best place to buy it?
And finally how do I change myself to an owner on this board
Many thanks!!
Steve

1. Congratulations on your purchase, and welcome to the club!
2. Mineral oil until the first service, at 9,000 miles - ideally, you want 10W-30, which can be hard to find, although Ford dealers stock it. I've been using Halfords' 5W-30 and I've not experienced any problems.
3. At the service, most people seem to recommend switching to Mobil One semi-synthetic.
4. To change your status to owner, go to the Start button in the top right corner of the screen, click on Edit Profile and then enter your VIN number. Et voila!

One other thing, i've heard a lot said on this forum about service announcments (i think there called TSB's) Is there anything I have to get done urgently? My S is a 00X European Import with 1500 miles on the clock.
I remember everyone going on about spark plug recalls at some point...?
Thanks
Steve

The spark plug recalls are due to get underway any time now as parts become available. They should replace bolts in your sump at the same time which will provide better lubrication.
The only things you should check on with an early model is that the tonneau cover has been replaced. The first version was fouling the seatbelts under certain conditions. Owners were notified to get the replacement. They didn't all comply. At the same time there was a recall because of a small plastic part in the seat belt pre-tensioners becoming deformed in hotter climes and seizing. This quite a big job which requires removal of the soft top to carry out the work. Nothin else as far as I know.
