Paint scuff
Hello,
I caught a piece of plastic debris on the motorway yesterday which has put a fair sized scuff on the front of the bonnet and nose along with a scratch through the paint and into the black plastic underneath. I guess the scratch is just going to have to be a touch up pen but the bonnet scuff is a couple of inches across, and fortunately not through to the bare metal, so I am hoping for some practical advice as to how to buff it out and reseal the area?
Thanks,
James.

Again depending on severity (with no pics it's hard to tell) you could try some autoglym super resin polish, this is a light cutting polish which will remove light hazes and scratches, if this fails to work try meguiars scratch X. By hand should work but an orbital polish may be required.
Avoid T-cut at all costs.
In terms of resealing bilt-hamber auto balm contains good fillers which will aid masking and remaining scratches.
