Default PCV

Hi all, I was doing a little under the bonnet maintenance / check ups and came across a guide on cleaning or checking the PCV. I went to disconnect the pipe and noticed the plastic connection / right angle piece that connects to the rocker cover is quite loose, you can wiggle it about and pop it out quite easily. Is this normal or should it be a very tight seal that requires some effort to disconnect?

Cheers

Nah, thats normal. A sharp pull will get the PCV out and then a rubber seal should maintain in the rocker cover.

Hmmm, don't think anything remains in the rocker cover, everything seems to come out, it is quite black / dirty around there too...which is why I was a bit concerned.

Double checked, there is a rubber seal that does remain in the rocker cover, cheers. So when cleaning this do you just check the pipe for blockages? I mean the little plastic piece that the rubber hose connects to, does this need cleaned in any way?

Never cleaned it sorry! I probably should though as my car keeps chucking out loads of oil! Think I am just going to get a catch can though and be done with it to be honest.

Basically, there's a ball NRV in the little plastic bit; it's supposed to allow +ve crankcase (well cam cover) ventilation only & air leaks can cause stuttery running on part-throttle.

You pull it out & squirt the ball with choke cleaner until it rattles free.
