Default Performance Exhaust - The difinitive answer?

Q: Does a HKS or similar performance exhaust system gain, lose, or have no change on S2K BHP?

I have done a powersearch but i still cant find any concrete answers apart from the fact they sound fantastic. But no matter how much i want the sound, i wont sacrafice any BHP due to restriction.

So:

Has there been any RR days organised which have demonstrated any outcome? Or does anybody know the concrete answer with evidence?

Cheers

Kevin

I have an HKS.....I bought it for the sound and looks

I am not sure about power loss/gains....comparisons with other cars at trackdays and on road would suggest neither a loss nor a gain

I'm not aware of anyone having put an HKS-equipped car onto a rolling road in the UK, but a number of our colonial cousins have and the concensus seems to be that you suffer a slight reduction in bhp since the design of the exhaust is more restrictive. But then most people don't buy the HKS expecting power gains - they buy it because of the unholy racket it makes

Because the stock exhaust is comparatively well-designed (if a bit heavy), it's hard to get any noticeable immediate gains by adding a different system. The best gains will always come from a single outlet exhaust - the Spoon N1, for instance, or the T1R. There are also dual outlet systems which claim gains - the Amuse R1 and the Mugen systems for instance.

All depends how much you want to spend really. I bought the HKS because (a) I loved the noise it made (b) it was comparatively cheap and
