Ok, some may remember that I heard a noise on engine brake in 2nd when rolling, well now I am kind of pleased to let you experts have a go at solving this one.

Car is parked and engine is idle, no gear engaged and clutch to the floor. With clutch pedal firmly planted rev the motor slowly up to about 3K, at around this point I get a rapid clicking and feel the clicking though the clutch (even tho it is firmly rooted to the floor), continuing to accelerate it either goes away or the engine is too excited to notice it much, but holding at 3k it is very noticable. I think something is either loose or broke, I suspect it's a clutch problem but I know nothing about the cars insides.

Ok, put me out of my misery, what is it?

Rgds

I would guess that it is the clutch release bearing. It sits on the gearbox input shaft between the clutch activating lever and the clutch pressure plate. When you de-clutch, it is pushed into the pressure plate, to release the clutch plate. Thus, one side is stationary, the other is spinning with the pressureplate (and flywheel) at engine speed, whilst transmitting all the force required to release the clutch.

I couldn't tell you if this is normal, as my gearbox / clutch most definitely isn't

Hi,

I tried this this morning, and I get no clicking through the clutch at any rpm.

although it's probably worth mentioning that my clutch is the 054 (?) clutch and not the new one in the 2002 model.

Hope this helps....

M.

I guess that another possibility is that either the clutch or the pressure plate is warped. If you haven't got the -055 clutch, it's worth asking for that anyway. Just be aware that it involves major surgery, so be certain that you trust your delear before asking.

Does '02 model come with 055 clutch?

I will ask though.

Need to get the car registered with Honda ASAP.

Does anyone know how long this takes from initial documentation being handed over?
