Driven paranoid by this board - I noticed a number of 'strange' noises with mine when I first had it.
Now at 3k miles they seem one by one to have disappeared - and I do not think it's just that I have got used to them!
I don't know what mileage you are at - after your trip to Scotland and so on - but maybe it could be worth noting the occurrence and bearing with it for a spell?

this is a definate rattle, I had my porsche mate at work check it out and he said it was clutch bearing (with no prior information), he said the engine at certain rev range rattled the clutch bearing (or something)...
