S2000 variants - different bhp??
This is linked to my question about front brake calipers, but has a more general and (for me) puzzling relevance. I was about to buy a repair Kit from euspares ( Product No.: 401905 ERT ) but they wanted very detailed information about my car, which i supplied as follows
* Car Brand Honda
* Car Model S2000
* The exact date of production, namely the month and year. 07/2003
* Fuel Type Petrol
* Engine Power KW/HP 240 BHP ( I think!)
* Vin-code of the car. JHMAP11303T200(XXX)
* Original part number (OE), that is indicated on the part itself. 16CL16VN (I think, it's difficult to read)
They said that the kit i was about to buy did NOT fit and sent me links to alternative kits that unfortunately do not contain pistons i require. They say my particular car’s caliper orig.part No.is 01463S2A000.
The drop-down on the website singles out one 'variant' (out of three) that the kit does not fit: This product doesn't fit the vehicle HONDA S2000 (AP) 2.0 Vtec (170 KW / 231 HP) Petrol (03.1999 - 10.2003)
However, apparently, This product fits your HONDA S2000 (AP) 2.0 (177 KW / 240 HP) Petrol (03.1999 - )
Now i always thought my model was 240 BHP (as i stated above) and no other suppliers (AFAIK) draw a distinction between variants.
Could some knowledgeable person please clear up this confusion?

Check ling's Honda for different years? I am not aware of any changes to the front calipers but both mine are early cars

I must have checked half a dozen Honda websites including Lings. Many give conflicting information regarding the parts and other sites list S2000 variants that simply don't exist. I certainly can't find any mention anywhere of this 231 HP model - which apparently mine is - or any changes whatsoever in caliper specs.
BiggRed just list one part for 3 "derivatives": the "entry" the "GT" and the "GT edition 100" (whatever they are!).
Seems to be confusion out there and whether i send my calipers for refurbishment or do them myself - which i quite fancy having a go at - i'd like to feel totally confident about the parts being the correct spec.

I'm sure someone will come along with a more robust answer, but essentially the 'GT' is essentially just 'with hardtop' and the GT100 was a limited edition, I think towards the end of manufacture, that came in white and had some other cosmetic niceties
To my knoweldge, the only power differences could only possibly be between the AP1 (2.0litre) we have over here and the not available in the UK AP2 which I think had a 2.2. I don't know what its power output is though

The callipers are the same on all S2000s.
Here is the parts diagram for an MY03 car: https://www.lingshondaparts.com/honda_car_parts_selection?block_01=17S2A01&block_0 2=B__2200&block_03=19251&block_05=hcr
and for an MY09 car: https://www.lingshondaparts.com/honda_car_parts_selection?block_01=17S2A801&block_ 02=B__2200&block_03=23882&block_05=hcr
The calliper part numbers are the same on both.
This post gives you the part numbers for various remanufacturers: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/uk-irela.../#post23172406
GT was the same as a non-GT, but has a hard top. GT100s were a special editions with some cosmetic changes but otherwise the same car.
All UK cars have 240PS.

Thanks for the responses. I did know about the GT distinction, i just wanted to give an example of one of the more bizarre (not the most bizarre) of the variant model descriptions in relation to brake calipers! What i really wanted was an unequivocal statement that the calipers and horsepower of all UK models was the same. Many thanks for that lovegroova (although there's no info on the Lings links).
I think complications ensue when VIN No.s are brought into the mix.
If you enter your VIN on one Honda site, they might give a certain Part no. as the correct one for that VIN; enter that part no on another site and they will say that part no is not suitable for an s2000!
There is certainly a lot of ignorance and misinformation out there.

AP2 had a bit more Torque 2.2, lower REV limit and probably easier tuned...
2.0 Japanese Market Version had ~10BHP due to slightly higher Compression and use of higher Octane Fuels
2.0 Lady Boy Blue that I've got has more BHP than all to get over some peoples fear of its colour......

Have you tried brakeparts.co.uk?
I've ordered refurb units for the rear of my track car today from them as I don't want to be off road waiting for a refurb

There is lots of info on the Lings links - you can see the part numbers are all the same. That's all you needed to know.
