Default Power Socket

I'm starting to thing I need an extra power socket.
I know you can get adapters, but the current placement already bothers my elbow if I'm using something with a big socket so an adapter might not work.
I'm thinking of doing some modding.

I'm thinking of getting a generic 2 or 3 socket unit and then fixing it somewhere unobtrusive, perhaps the passenger footwell?

Has anyone done this before and can offer some tips?
Is there an easy place to get a 12v feed around the dash without carrying a wire from the current socket.

I've done this, but mine's a 4 way adaptor (from Halfords), and it is located in the driver's footwell.

Doing the wiring is dead easy, as the necessary feed is readily available.

Where did you get the feed?
From the existing socket and feed it under the carpet, or from somewhere up under the dash.
Maybe direct from the fusebox?

I have a 2 way extender, which I route from the socket, over the bag I have attached the hooks behind the passenger seat, and then the connectors sit under the passesnger seat. From there, I keep the two connectors (Garmin and USB) in the passenger side cargo net thing.

I have also done this

I fitted mine underneath the dash on the driver's side where it is out of sight and wired it directley to the spare terminal on the fusebox ( live only with the ignition on )

A search should show a pic or 2 of the fusebox showing the spare terminal's ( I think there's 3 )

Hope this help's

John.

I have a multi socket fitted under the inside of the dash out of sight to the right of the wheel fed directly from a spare power supply located there with a in line fuse. It feeds my satnav and camera detector with the cables fed through the gap in between the dash and the windscreen. I keep the original power supply socket for charging my mobile as and when required.

Here is a pic of where you can tap into for a power feed.
