Problem with Hondata
Has anyone had any experience using a hondata flashpro (http://www.hondata.com/flashpro_s2000.html).
Basically I went down to TDi North yesterday (350 mile round trip) and it didn't work. The flashpro could identify the car i.e. when connected the display showed my VIN number and all essential information. However when the technician tried editing any of the parameters an error message came up saying car unidentifiable. This clearly shows that the link from the flashpro to laptop is working and that it is clearly 'talking' to the car.
I personally think it is a problem with Hondata software, so my question is does anyone have any experience of this? any suggestions?

Gutted - what I do know is that on their site you have to match the Flashpro to your serial no range is it possible you had a US or JDM flashpro trying to talk to a EU ECU ? i.e the one you need is the one for part numbers "PCX-G11 through PCX-G16
That is a possibility however I left it to TDi to order as I felt since they were the experts I would leave them to it. The problem seems to be the software however because the link works and we can see all the details of my car e.g. VIN number and engine characteristics so that strengths the belief the problem is with the software because it isn't till you try to 'tune' the car that it locks us out with the error message.
The car is secondhand and the Hondata is new.
It is reading the ECU and is identifying the car, selecting the right car and VIN number is correct. I have registered the flashpro to the car no problem as well. The problem seems to come when selecting a calibration when you start the 'mapping' an error code comes up saying car is unidentifiable.

The guy at TDi even run a diagnostic to check the ECU etc. and that cam back clear the VIN number on the diagnostic matched that of the car, so there doesn't seem to be a problem with that side of things. Also the flashpro seems to be able to talk to the car as it identifies the right model description and VIN number on characteristic side of things.
This has lead me to believe the problem is down to Hondata software which I believe gets updated quite regularly but the guy at TDi ensures me he has the most recently update (was less than 2 weeks ago the last one).
I really am stumped as don't know what the problem is and with TDi (based in UK) trying to speak to Hondata (based in USA) it may take a while to get a response, due to time difference.
This is why i have asked the question see if anyone has any experience of similar problems or can suggest a solution.
Thanks

The biggest problem is it is not me dealing with them it is TDi, so wait and see what comes back hopefully am not waiting too long. The biggest problem being the time difference. That being said TDi have a solid reputation and Hondata and established company so don't feel like I should be overally concerned just very annoying. Waste of everyone's time and money is what it feels like at the moment.
On a positive side I have apparently made 13hp peak without a map, but taking that with a pinch of salt as will be getting a before and after once issue resolved.
My sentiments exactly. Nothing worse than a wasted trip (hope you had some a/b road fun!)
Yeah, its worse when you're leaving it with someone else to chase/resolve as you don't know what is going on, or whether it's being chased up enough etc etc.
Let us know how the car performs after the map - it should be good.
TDI North are very good and you won't be disappointed (hopefully).
I really hope so because very frustrating driving 350 mile (round trip) for effectively a dyno run.

I would wait and see what Hondata come back with - could be a faulty unit or software.
They (Hondata) were ok for support when I had Hondata on my Type R years ago.
I'm sure your situation will be resolved soon.

I am very keen to see how car performs once mapped sounds very promising, 13hp apparently. This is with induction kit, manifold, decat and exhaust. So if I assume am running about 250hp (at the crank) now will be good to see what am running after. I am taking that with a pinch of salt at the moment though as have only seen it on a screen no printout yet.
I'll be sure to post up before and after once its sorted. I appreciate its still N/A and wont see massive gains but prefer the drive (at the moment) of N/A over FI. That being said if I do go FI in future already have the software so map can be edited to suit.
Hopefully sorted soon. Excited!
Thanks
