Default (Problem) Interior lights wont come on?

Got back in the S last week, i cant really say if its happened during the cold spell i.e when the S has been sat on the drive, but I'm having a problem with the interior lights.

When i switch the lights into the 'middle position' the lights wont come one when i open the doors.

When i switch the lights to the 'far right' (ON) they wont come on.

Press the individual buttons manually and the lights come on

I have pressed the pushrods at the side of the doors, i opened them open a year or so back to lube them - not point really.

But I'm stumped must be something to do with the interior switch?, I'm thinking its more likely the push rods?

IIRC the lights should come when the light switch is set to the middle position and i open the doors.

Thanks

Mine have always been a bit hit and miss. Do they come on when you turn the engine off? A squirt of electrical contact cleaner in the switch might help.

Nah they dont come on when i switch the engine off, thinking more about it its possible it could be rust or a grounding issue. I will have a butchers tomorrow.

Sounds like it. Might be worth taking the switches out and checking them for continuity.

My interior light flickers whilst driving, if left in the position where it comes on when the door is open...another job on my endless list of jobs.

My interior light comes on when I open the passenger door but not the driver's (it used to work). So I assume it's something to do with the switch in the door.

Really must get round to looking at that.

Does your "key in ignition" bleeper still work?

I think this works off the door switch.

Drives me batty - top of my (short) list of things I'd change about the car.

Mine have never worked. The light does come on when you switch off the engine though, and opening the door whilst alarmed sets the alarm off and I'd have thought that uses the same switch.

I've never had a beeper like that, but then I've never had a "you've left your lights on" beeper either.

Always presumed it was a JDM thing,

My alarm is very enthuisastic, it goes off if you close the boot too hard and haven't unlocked the car with the blip.
