Arrow Problem with Origin b2

This has happened a couple of times now...

Driving along, keepin' it real in the S, safe in the knowledge that my trusty b2 is watchin my speedin' behind...

After about 40 minutes the b2 starts flashing between the normal speed display and the satellite search display, about twice a second. So I pull it out of the cradle and slot it back in and it then can't find satellites for the remaining hour of the journey.

Lovely sunny day on both occasions and no long tunnels or anything.

Any ideas? Anyone seen this before? Maybe a need a new cradle, or satellite antenna?

Is the B2 unit properly secured in the cradle? I had a very similar problem - the stiff suspension and the less-than-ideal roads by me meant that the unit was jumping around in the cradle and losing its connection. Once the connection was lost, it was often difficult to get the thing to lock back onto the satellites.

Origin will fit stronger magnets for you apparently. I couldn't be arsed to send mine away to have it done (they wouldn't send them to me to fit myself) so I resorted to holding the B2 in place with an elastic band tucked under the left hand side of the cradle and over the top right hand side of the unit.

Works a treat, if a bit unsightly......

That's funny because I was thinking of exactly the same elastic band 'enhancement'

I'll give it a try to see if makes any difference.

Not sure about the set up of the OB2 but where is the GPs signal reciever?

That can be affected by EMF/P (or more to the point the Magnetic Flux) from strong electrical wires

Mine did this a couple of times about two weeks ago. Has never done it since so I wonder if it was either dirty contacts on the cradle connection or perhaps some atmospheric conditions interfering with satellite reception.

Otherwise its been fine, and its been great at reminding me about the 3 new SPECS zones on the A77 when I go down to Prestwick for golf.

The GPS receiver is slap in the middle of the top of dashboard, snug up to the window. I think that's where most people on here have put it.

Give the cradle and Origin connections a good cleaning.

Strange. Mine has also started doing that immediately after my last upgrade - about 2 weeks ago.

Removing from cradle / replacing appears to resolve it (after a several attempts) but I wouldnt simply presume that its bad contacts because of that - it may be simply the act of restarting it (I can never be bothered with the on/off button!) - sounds more like a s/w prob to me...

I found that switching mine off then on again with the button (Button B1, top left) helped, rather than just keep taking it out of / putting it back into the cradle.
