Default Proposhaft help required

Following on from this topic: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/109...ox-diff-clunk/

Basical I have clunk when the car is in gear pulling away and reversing.

I had my mechanic get under there and he says everything is solid including my engine mounts / trans mounts and diff mounts.

The only part he could find to replicate the noise was the propshaft where it connects to the gearbox. He said there is a lot of play in this area and he believes this to be the issue.

So guys, what do I do?

New / reconditioned propshaft has been recommended.

Mike

maybe try that then,
as it was looked at and diagnosed by the mechanic
sure sounds like it in the video or hub nuts loose but eliminated by the mechanic inspection.
another may be rear subframe loose

Integrastella comes recommended and also bow1build on here usually has stock of parts. Both breakers.

if the prop rotates left and right more thean a couple of mm, with the wheels on the ground, could be the ring and pinion

One gearbox I had did have a fair bit of backlash at the output end which allowed the prop to turn a fair way before the drive was taken up. It made a bit of a noise when on and off the throttle at low speed and when maneuvering back and forth.

Second hand prop seems to be cheaper than gearbox. Ima going to do prop first then gearbox.

Its getting worse and worse, nearly every gear change now.

Definitely. Just something to check to be certain.
