Default Pulled over by the police

I was driving in london going slowly in a tree lined street that formed a canopy (a bit like a tunnel), and I have just recently taken off my air box cover - you know where I am going with this one right . I slotted it into 1st and floored it up to or around the speed limit, the noise was magic!!
I was about to turn into a side street to park up when all of a sudden a police car with flashing lights was right behind me, I didn't think they were after me until I had turned off and they followed.

Three of them jumped out the Astra. They said they said that they heard the loud noise and saw me shoot forwards and though I might have been drinking, they then asked me if I had been drinking - which I hadn't. They then did a check on the car and asked for my address. Asked for ID, which I had none on me so asked for date of birth, and it all came back ok.

I think they must have been a bit bored or on training. I didn't mind them stopping and checking as at least it shows they are on the look out and the car could have been stolen.
It goes to show that you are probably more likely to be pulled over if you drive with the airbox off and to not even THINK about having a second pint if you are going to drive!

Has anyone else been pulled over?

I got pulled up on Saturday, on the way down from holiday in Scotland to SM4 - but for very different reasons!

I'd driven past a camera van and flashed my lights at an oncoming car to warn him of its presence and to slow down. The marked Volvo a bit further down the road took exception to that and flashed his blues at me as I approached.

The copper was friendly enough and gave me the spiel about how they don't enjoy giving out tickets and that it's intended to slow people down since they don't like scraping them off the road after accidents.

He said he could do me for attempting to pervert the course of justice - I knew full well that he was talking out of his back passage but I didn't want to wind him up or give him reason to hassle me so I made suitably contrite noises and he waved me on my way.

You do make a good point there. On a purely `I`m interested level` just how much rubbish was he talking?

Around last Christmas I got pulled over. I was druiving my 1.2 Clio (yes, a real F1 car I know) when I overtook a lorry who was signalling me to overtake him as he was doing 15-20 mph on a 50mph road.

As soon as I did a cop car going the other way turned round, lights on and came screaming after me. I pulled in and the conversation went something like this...

"Excuse me sir do you know why we pulled you in?"
"No officer"
Mr Cop explains overtaking was a dangerous maneouver etc etc I explain lorry signalled me on.
"Anyway sir we will have to breathalize you, have you ever done one of these before?"
"No" says I

He goes to get the breathalizer, which is not in his car and calls for one to be brought to him. 25 mins later his sargeant turns up with said gizmo. All the next conversation takes place in front of his boss.

"Sir, I would like you breath into the unit without touching it"
"So, if I can't touch it, do I whistle into it?"
"No sir, you put your mouth around the tube."
"But you said I couldn't touch it"
"Have you never seen this done on television sir?"
"Yes but i have also seen Aliens and buildings being blown up - doesn't mean I'm allowed to do it"
"Sir your mouth is allowed to touch the tube"
"So the tube isn't part of the unit then?
"Yes sir it is, but you can touch that part"
"Why didn't you say so in the beginning!"

Breathilizer test runs, his sarge pays close attention and I pass all clear and get sent on my way. As I drive off I see his partner doubled up laughing and a very pointed finger from the sarge towards Mr Cop in a very irrate manner.

lol

I vtec'd past a marked car on the M25 when I'd just had the HKS fitted.....they weren't bothered in the slightest....they followed me off a junction and then on to a dual....the distance I put between me and them showed I must have been driving the car hard but still they weren't interested

now go figure that one out.........
