whats those straps for in the boot?

and throwing away the \ash tray thing means a mobile phone[well mine]fits in the slidy console thing

Dunno what the straps are for, but they always seem to get in the way.
I presume they're for securing something

Straps are for tying down a wheel if you have to stick it in the boot.
Also handy for making sure your golf umbrella doesn't bounce about.

I've tried holding upright a bottle of wine with a strap in the past, with very limited success How about holding a bottle of oil (in a carrier bag)?
