Default Rain, makes a nice change on the commute

Enjoyed a very wet and spirited drive into work early this morning, roof down on empty country lanes with VSA turned off on my '09. My, it was fun - even at relatively low speeds. Couple of scary ones before common sense took over.

Interested to know how similar, or not, handling with VSA off is to that of non-VSA model? Main differences?

Main difference is that if I plant it in a hedge I won't be kicking myself for turning it off cos I never had it

Other than the DBW on 06+ I should imagine that it's pretty similar. 09 had harder suspension I believe so probably more nervous when provoked.

No VSA means you actually have to learn to drive.

Dunno about the vsa but I've been having so much fun in the wet weather, so much more controlled to slide as it doesn't feel like it's going to grip suddenly and spit you off in the other direction.

My old S was 11 years old so obviously no VSA, and I loved hanging the tail out at every "safe' opportunity.

However after a year with VSA, I find myself taking it to the limit (or more correctly just past the limit) most of the time.

I'm now concerned that I may lose the 'feel' for the limit of the car should I turn off the VSA.

Why would Oil temperature make a difference? there is naff all traction in comparison to if you done it on a dry road.

So easy to light the rear wheels up in mine in the damp conditions.

Yeah ^ it's probably doing 4k revs when I'm sliding out of work, all first gear stuff. Perfect way to gently warm up the diff and tyres
