Thumbs up Random Alarm

For some reason the alarm on my MY00 S seems to be going off without warning. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to why it might be going off - sometimes it goes off after I've washed it, a few nights ago it went off in the middle of the night, and it's just gone off again today after a quick drive to the shops with the top down.

At first the Clifford engineer where I work thought it might be the Ultrasonics, which we've now disconnected. But doesn't seem to have made a difference. I've had to resort to just locking it with the key and not arming it - which I'm really not happy about.

Anyone else had the same problem, or have any suggestions?? I'm going to replace the alarm once I get paid, but would welcome any help or advice in the meantime as it'll be two weeks at least until I can buy it and get it fitted.

Cheers,
Sam

Have a search on here for Alarm Test or similar...basically it is a sequence of buttons you can do then you read the blinks on the light and it 'tells' you which sensor is dodgy - i.e. roof/bonnet/boot etc

Cheers for that mate. Not been able to find the sequence in any of the forum posts, but found someone who has a PDF of the alarm manual.

Usually it's the bonnet sensor switch that gets rusty and covered in crud...

If it goes off after you've washed it then it is likely to be that the alarm sensor under the bonnet (front driver's side) is a bit corroded and needs cleaning up with a bit of sanding followed by applying a bit of grease to stop water getting in etc...

I had this problem a little while ago, if you do a search on here there are some good threads telling you step by step what to do. I'll try and find one for you now...
