What's the difference between the RE050a and the RE050MZ? The MZs are what I have on my 2006 S2000.
Your 2006 car is already on 17 inch rims. The OP is talking about the replacement of the 16 inch SO2 with the Bridgestone recommended 16 inch RE050A

I've moved from F1 Eagle 255s on the rear to a pair of new 225 RE050s. I am of the same opinion as the OP that they're sh1te. The steering wheel seems very floppy & the always seem about to breakaway on roundabouts.

I have also removed my engine lower cross brace which is probably contributing to the very different handling.

I'm inclined to believe that 245s may have been the way to go (if available).

If you are running 17's they should be 245 section on the rear not 225 that could be part of your problem if you are running skinny rubber.

Removing the front lower cross brace will effect the handling feel and I would expect the balance change to make the rear feel a bit more slippy which could compound matters.

Yeah; it's like steering a soap box cart with a pair of elastic bands, instead of ropes and your feet.

Im seriousley thinking of either upgrading to bigger rims or I may even keep the 16's and go for Toyo 888's. Anyone running these?

Running 16s now - the tyres I fitted are Honda / Bridgestones recommended replacement.
