Straight line run is fine and is only start locking up when its warmed up. When its cold you can do whatever and it will make no noise and run smooth.

Backlash has been set to the recommened setting from the manufacture, we might take it out and recheck the backlash if needed and inspect the diff unit.

Will update how we get on with this later.
Dixon has been brilliant so far on this by the way

I'm looking to understand more myself on the issue, I like to know how things work and want to make sure I understand the issue and remedy thats found so the diff stays healthy for the long term.

Up until a few days ago a diff was a black box, now I have quite a good understanding how a torsion diff works, I'm not sure how we survived before the internet

We have opened up the diff just now, it turn smooth as silk. Backlash got tiny bit loose to 0.20 and we have set it back to 0.15 now which is the factory recommend setup nothing damaged inside the diff gear, just a few tiny metal bits come out with the oil which is pretty normal with the new final drive and thats also what said on the fitting instruction as well, everything turn just so smooth like OEM.

We gonna put it back together now with some new MTF oil and see if its till doing the same.

Oh and Rob your sump is done -

Thanks. That was the spec the sheet that the gears came with listed?

Its seems to be heat related doesn't it, so when cold could be hard to spot anything causing a problem?

Sump looking good

Yes 0.15 is the spec they gave us and is sitting on exactly that now.

Now is cold and is smooth as silk, even smoother than OEM setup. Hope is gonna be ok later.

Yeah all good now, it was just the backlash reset and new fresh oil. Didn't even need friction modifier.

Went out for 15 mins drive and stay at the carpark to do full circle for 10 mins on both direction and all smooth as silk!

Thats good to hear. I'm glad you found something that needed fixing and that there wasn't any damage to be seen. So perhaps the backlash being out was causing extra heat and causing the diff to lock as it expanded due to the heat?

I've replied to your PM any how about picking her up.
