Rear screen heating element...
A work colleague has just had a Monsoon hood fitted and the rear glass screen has a heating element in it. Any idea where can he get the the wiring / button for the element?
was a long time ago, but long story short:
- find fuse & relay(??) in xx fuse box
- find & locate 3 pin connector to the left of the fuel tank (accessed from boot), matching wires as per wiring diagram.
- find & locate x pin connector under center console (00my JDM), and fit your own switch. i extended these wires to put an illuminated rocker switch beside the 12v socket at the rear of center console
schematics:
- rocker switch controls DIY-added relay
- 12v feed to heated screen = battery > fuse (25-30amp recommended) > relay > heated screen.
- other terminal on heated screen = down to a good chassis ground to complete the circuit
notes:
- i cant remember the exact details, but i do have a DIY-fitted relay next to the fuel tank.I had to run in a separate fused 12v 30amp feed for the actual heated screen feed.
it was almost like the 3 pin connector next to the fuel tank is relay/switch power only, and not 12v device power.
i've just re-read this post, and i can see a wiring diagram will be soo much better. i'll sketch one up as pictures are worth a thousand words

if you really want to be as simple as possible, then you could go battery > fuse > switch > heated screen > ground.

it looks like the center-console wiring is 5 or 6 pin.
2 for the switch (as i've used)
1 for dash illumination feed
1 for heated screen on
and another (i presume) as a ground.

This is really handy thanks!
So I have the switch already. Where do I get the relay and the fuse holder from? (sorry I know this has probably been said a hundred times but it would be good to have it all in one thread!)
cheers
