Default Rear View Mirror

Took the rear view mirror off last night to stop an annoying resonance rattle and I can't get the frigging thing back on!!

Such a simple task has turned into a flamin' mamouth task!!

Anyone give me a clue on how to reattach it please?

Done a search on here and all I can find is an exploded view detailing the parts.

HELP!

I did this once and it is a complete nightmare!

You can adjust how much spring is in the spring but it needs to be tight enough not to wobble and loose enough to be able to get on.

Once its on, don't ever take it off again!!

I did one in my old Ford Orion. I had to buy an adhesive pad from a motor factor.

Agree, it is a PITA!

From memory, you need to slack the adjuster off, then install the mirror, holding it on with one hand while tightening it up with the other.

I think it's anticlockwise to tighten it too...?

If you stare at it for long enough, you'll figure it out.

Took me about 2 hours and 4 cupd of tea...

I gave up when I took mine off - luckily I was having a new windscreen fitted the next day so they did it

This happened to me once! Could I get the b***** thing back on? Went to a windscreen place for help but they were too busy.

Ended up at Honda, where the Heda Tech guy did it with a REALLY BIG screwdriver. There is something about the screw being reverse threaded. I remember he loosened the big screw so he could slip the bracket over the clip stuck on the window.

Even he couldn't get it to attach as firmly as before, so ordered me a new one under warranty. Nice!
